Application for P&C Membership

To become a P&C member:

  1. You may apply for membership at any time during the year. However, voting rights do not commence until the meeting following the ratification of your membership. The exception is applications submitted at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

  2. Complete and sign the below Membership Form. Once submitted, the Secretary will receive a copy of your application. Your membership will be pending until ratified at the next General Meeting.

  3. If you are unable to attend the next General Meeting at which your membership application will be considered, you must complete and sign the attendance waiver included on the Membership Form.

At each AGM, which is held before the end of March each year, all memberships from the previous year lapse. New membership applications may be submitted at the AGM, and upon approval, voting rights commence immediately.

Please Note: The Constitution provides for membership applications by two methods only:

  1. Submission of a completed application form before the Association's Annual General Meeting (AGM), whether or not you attend the AGM.

  2. Submission of a completed application form and attendance at a General Meeting, where your application will be considered by the members.

If you are unable to attend the next General Meeting, please complete and sign the waiver below.


In all cases, voting rights commence at the meeting following approval of your membership application.

Code of Conduct for KGSC P&C Association

This Code of Conduct applies to all members of the Kelvin Grove State College Parents and Citizens Association (KGSC P&C), including paid staff, volunteers, members and Executive Committee members. It governs their duties and interactions within the school community.

The purpose of this Code is to:

  • Foster a collaborative environment that benefits all students.

  • Promote the interests and continuous improvement of Kelvin Grove State College.

  • Support the Association’s commitment to providing a psychologically safe environment and managing psychosocial risks in accordance with work health and safety obligations.

Members are expected to uphold the following principles:

  • Respect for the Law and System of Government:

    • Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Respect for Individuals:

    • Treat everyone with courtesy, dignity, and fairness.

  • Integrity:

    • Act honestly and ethically in all dealings.

  • Diligence:

    • Commit to carrying out duties responsibly and to the best of one's ability.

  • Psychological Safety:

    • Act in a manner that supports the psychological health and wellbeing of others and avoids causing psychological harm.

  • Economy and Efficiency:

    • Utilise P&C resources wisely and avoid waste.

To maintain a productive and harmonious environment, members should:

  • Treat others with respect, courtesy, and fairness always.

  • Communicate openly and constructively, including when providing feedback, without intimidation, aggression, or personal attacks.

  • Refrain from bullying, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or other unreasonable behaviour, including repeated conduct that may cause psychological harm.

  • Avoid placing unreasonable pressure on others or engaging in conduct that undermines a safe and respectful working environment.

Confidentiality

  • Maintain the confidentiality of personal information obtained through their role.

  • Share sensitive information only with relevant school authorities as required.

Conflict of Interest

  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest promptly.

  • Avoid participating in decisions where a personal conflict exists.

  • Compliance

  • Familiarise themselves with and adhere to the Education Queensland Code of Conduct.

  • Always protect and enhance the interests of the Association and the school.

Breaches of the Code

  • Where appropriate, concerns should be raised in the first instance with the individual’s direct line manager. If the concern cannot be resolved, or if it is not appropriate to raise it at that level, the matter may be escalated to the next level of management or the P&C President and/or KGSC Principal.

  • An investigation will be conducted to ascertain the facts and circumstances.

  • Appropriate action will be taken to address the breach and prevent future occurrences.

  • Concerns may be raised in good faith without fear of victimisation, retaliation, or adverse treatment.
