postheadericon Online Tuckshop ordering

On Friday 7 June the KGSC P&C we notified that our Tuckshop online ordering service provider will be shutting down at the end of term. We are actively seraching for a replacement, and are down to choosing between just a couple of providers. We will make a decision at Monday 17 June P&C Meeting.

It seems very likely that online ordering will not be available for the first week of term 3. We will ensure updates are provided on the P&C website, and a new link will be made available when we have it.

Thanks for your understading.

Proposed KGSC Community Sports Centre

Exciting times are  ahead for our College with a proposed state of the art Community Sports Centre in the pipeline.

We have the architectural drawings – see attached, we have our business model, and we are in discussions with local MPs, Councillors, and the Minister for Education,  John Paul Langbroek.

The Community Sports Centre

The Community Sports Centre will be located within the College grounds and will support the educational outcomes of the school community, specifically Physical Education, Health Education and Recreation Studies, as well as interschool and district sport carnivals, and the Schools of Excellence in tennis, golf and football.

Although the Community Sports Centre will mainly be used by the College and other school groups, engaging with the community will be a key part of the Centre’s operating model.

The majority of the Centre’s facilities will be available for businesses, sporting clubs and community groups to book outside of school hours, including weekends and during school holiday periods.

A primary element of the Centre’s design is the creation of a facility that promotes community use and participation.  The Centre’s emphasis is on an adaptable facility that caters for multiple users, providing a hub not only for allied health and sport practitioners, but for various community, educational and sporting groups.

The Centre facilities will include:

  • Indoor courts – basketball, volleyball, futsal, European handball, netball, badminton and golf training nets
  • Retractable seating for approximately 100 spectators
  • A fully equipped gymnasium with weight training equipment
  • Physiotherapy room
  • Two community meeting spaces
  • A 60 seat studio
  • Computer lab
  • Canteen and function area
  • External viewing platform over tennis courts
  • Combined office and reception area
  • Amenities including toilets and shower facilities
  • Undercover parking spaces

Please support  our P&C and talk to your local MPs.  We need your support, and the support of Local, State and Federal Governments to get the Community Sports Centre up and running.

postheadericon P&C / COLLEGE ALUMNI ANNOUNCEMENT

For over 50 years graduates from the schools at Kelvin Grove have been making a difference nationally and globally.

After the success of the 2011 50-year celebrations of the Kelvin Grove State High School, former students from the KGSHS 50th Reunion Committee are establishing the Kelvin Grove State College Alumni (KGSCA).

The objectives of the KGSCA are to foster connections among former students and between Alumni members and the College, supporting the College and partnering with the College in preserving the history of schooling at Kelvin Grove.

Membership is open to former students who attended one of the schools at L’Estrange Tce – Infants, Primary, High School or College. Members will remain an integral part of the College community providing opportunities to attend special College events, reconnect with fellow students including at reunions, and giving back to the College through scholarships and mentoring programs.

Following 137 years of schooling on ‘the hill’, the formation of the Alumni ushers in a further step in the very successful evolution of education at Kelvin Grove.

The KGSHS 50th Reunion Committee thanks the Parents and Citizens Association for displaying this announcement on its website.

For further information about Alumni membership, for assistance with contacting fellow students of your leaving class when organising your reunion or to offer your expertise to the Management Committee, contact (pending establishment of the Alumni website) Interim Secretary, Mrs Linda Potter (nee Sciarretta) at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Junior School Pickup Zone (Look Out Zone)

Junior School Pickup Zone (Look Out Zone)

The Look Out Zone is a volunteer based program developed by the Transport and Main Roads and the Kelvin Grove State School to manage flow of traffic in a safe and orderly manner at the L’Estrange Terrace  designated Pickup Zone (2 minute loading zone).  The program facilitates the quick and safe pickup of children during congested peak school let out times.

Volunteering involves marshalling and assisting children to the first 3 bays of the pickup lay-by.  Volunteers only need to donate 25 minutes (2:55-3:20pm) once every 2 to 3 weeks on their chosen day of week.  There are two volunteers per day with the support of a teacher aide.  There is also flexibility in case of sick children, work commitments, etc.  For more info contact kgpickup@gmail.com
